Support for young people

If you are a young person who has been diagnosed with a liver condition, we’re here for you. We have support specially designed for young people aged 11-24 who have a liver condition or who have had a liver transplant.

The information on this page is for young people with a liver condition. If you are a parent or carer click here to find out about how we can support the whole family.

How we can help

Being a young person with a liver condition can be tough and you will have lots of feelings and questions. It’s easy to feel like you are the only one, but you are not alone.

We are here for you and can answer any questions you may have or be a listening ear if you just want to talk privately about how you are feeling.

What we can offer:

  • Advice on all aspects of living with a liver condition from tattoos and piercings to what happens when you go to university.
  • One-to-one support from our young people’s officer who you can speak to about issues which may be concerning you.
  • The opportunity to meet other young people with liver conditions through our Hive and Hive+ virtual groups.

If you are over 16 you can use the form below to sign up for information and support. If you are under 16 please ask your parent or guardian to contact us.

You can also contact us on 0800 652 7330 from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday or email [email protected]

Hive and Hive+

Join our online forum

Hive is our Facebook-based social network created by young people exclusively for young people with a liver condition or transplant. Chat, make friends and share your experiences with others young people from across the UK who understand, on a safe group chat and in monthly group video hangouts.

There are two groups:

  • Hive (for 13-17 year olds)
  • Hive+ (for 18-24 year olds)

If you are a young person and want to sign up, just send a join request on the group. Our Young People’s Officer will then get in touch to help with the registration process.

The pages are monitored by our children and families team and our Hive ambassadors to ensure safety for our members.
