Discovering if you are at risk at an early stage means that you can be effectively treated and change your lifestyle before serious problems occur. It also means that you can ask your GP for further tests if needed.

Why did you change your name and rebrand as Liver UK?
Following our merger with Children’s Liver Disease Foundation, we created Liver UK to bring everything together under one clear, inclusive identity and better reflect our role as the UK’s liver health charity. Read more.
Do you support children and families?
Yes. Liver disease can affect people of all ages, including babies, children and young people. We provide information and support for children, parents, carers and families, helping you understand liver conditions and find the guidance you need.
Do you support people with liver cancer?
Yes. Through Liver Cancer UK, we support people affected by liver cancer, including those who have been diagnosed, people waiting for tests or treatment, and family members or carers. How can I support Liver UK?

What are the signs and symptoms of liver disease?
Many liver conditions have no symptoms in the early stages, but signs can include fatigue, jaundice, abdominal swelling and unexplained weight loss. It’s important to understand the risk factors and get tested if you are worried.
Can liver disease be prevented?
Around 90% of liver disease in adults is considered preventable, with major risk factors including alcohol harm, type 2 diabetes, obesity and viral hepatitis. Some liver diseases are caused by genetic or autoimmune conditions. You can find out more about the risk factors here.
