Safeguarding

We are committed to creating a safe environment for everyone who uses our services. This includes people affected by liver disease, their families and carers, volunteers, supporters, and members of the public who come into contact with us. We take all concerns about safety and wellbeing seriously and respond to them promptly and fairly.

Safeguarding means protecting people from harm, abuse, neglect, or exploitation. We support people to speak up if they are worried about their own safety or the safety of someone else.

If you are worried about your own safety

If you feel that you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
If the situation is not an emergency but you need urgent help, contact NHS 111 or your local authority adult social care team.

If you are worried about the safety of someone else

You can raise a safeguarding concern with us directly. You do not need proof of harm. It is enough to tell us what you have seen, heard, or experienced that makes you concerned.

Email: [email protected]. Please include the word Safeguarding in the email subject line so we can direct your message to the right person quickly.

Telephone: 0300 1311 292. Please state clearly at the start that your call relates to safeguarding.

All concerns are handled in confidence and will only be shared when this is necessary to protect someone’s safety.

Our commitment

  • We act quickly when a concern is raised.
  • We listen without judgement and treat all people with respect.
  • We follow the safeguarding laws and guidance that apply across the United Kingdom.
  • We work with local authorities, health professionals, and the police when needed to keep people safe.
  • We make sure our staff and volunteers are trained and supported to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns.

Our policies

We have safeguarding policies for adults and for children and young people. These guide how we prevent harm and how we respond when concerns arise. You can request copies of our policies by emailing [email protected] using the word Safeguarding in the email subject line

Feedback or complaints
