The Transplant Games is always a highlight in our calendar as it’s a wonderful opportunity to meet so many of the individuals and families we support face to face. We know what it means for people of all ages just to take part in the Games, let alone win a medal, so we felt incredibly proud of all our competitors in Sheffield last month.
And much though we love to cheer you on trackside or poolside, the best part for us is catching up you and hearing your stories so a huge thank you to everyone who took time to come and say hello. We truly appreciate it.
This summer’s event in Sheffield was particularly exciting as it took place just weeks after our relaunch as Liver UK so was our first opportunity for people to see our new brand. Judging from the popularity of our T shirts, water bottles and pens, it seems our new look was very well received, once everyone was reassured that only the name is different and the support and information remains exactly the same!
“Representing Liver UK at the Transplant Games was a real privilege,” says Head of Children and Families Service, Michelle Wilkins. “While it was wonderful to cheer on our incredible competitors and celebrate their achievements, the highlight for me was spending time with so many children, young people, adults and families we support. The Games are about so much more than medals – they celebrate the gift of life, the strength of the transplant community and everything that people can achieve. It was great to be able to introduce our new Liver UK brand at the Games and to reassure everyone that, the our name may have changed but our commitment has not!”
