Introducing: “Living with a Liver Condition” – a vital resource for patients on the British Liver Trust Website

February 19, 2024

We are pleased to announce the launch of a new comprehensive resource hub for anyone affected by a liver condition, providing a wealth of information, support, and practical advice to empower individuals to manage their condition and improve their quality of life.

The new “Living with a Liver Condition” section on our website ensures patients and their families can access whatever information they need at every stage of their condition.

Being diagnosed with a liver condition not only impacts on a person’s physical wellbeing, but often affects every aspect of life. From the moment of diagnosis, individuals and their loved ones often find themselves dealing with a complex landscape of medical information, lifestyle adjustments, and emotional support needs.

The new resource includes easy-to-navigate information on medical care, diet, finances, everyday life, support, stigma and mental health.

Within the pages, there is comprehensive information on eating, drinking, and keeping active. In “Everyday Life,” there are practical strategies to manage daily challenges with confidence. Additionally, our “Support for Family, Friends, and Carers” section recognises the broader impact of living with liver condition and provides tailored resources for a patient’s support network.

The Trust has worked extensively with patients, families and carers who shared their experiences of navigating their conditions to inform the content. Healthcare professionals including hepatologists, nurses, palliative care doctors, transplant coordinators, pharmacists, dieticians, physiotherapists and,  occupational health specialists also added their expertise.
