Fundraising at work helps David top £2K

November 17, 2025

When David decided he’d like to raise funds for the British Liver Trust by taking part in the Land’s End to John O’Groats virtual walk, he was touched by the response of his work colleagues.

“I’ve lived with chronic liver disease for the past three years now. Like many others, I used to think that liver disease was self-inflicted, but now I know that there are many different liver conditions, and everyone’s case is different.

“The information and support I’ve received from the British Liver Trust has meant a lot to me, and I’ve been fortunate to meet some amazing and inspirational people through the charity too. I feel that the stigma attached to liver disease makes fundraising a bit harder, but I was very keen to give something back and thought that the Land’s End to John O’Groats virtual walk over the summer was the perfect opportunity.

“When I mentioned to my colleagues at Aviva that I was going to do this, hoping that they might sponsor me, I was delighted when they said they would like to join me in the challenge! Taking on an 874-mile challenge, whether it’s walking, running or at the gym, is obviously good for fitness, and it was a great way of helping my colleagues understand how critical the British Liver Trust is for me, and for many others like me.

“I was thrilled that together we topped our target of £1,000, and even more so to receive matched funding from Aviva. To raise over £2,000 for a charity close to my heart is great, and to have done so with the support of my work colleagues is even better.

“To anyone who is unsure about fundraising at work, I would say just ask – the benefits could be more than you think!”
