Clinical Advisory Group
Working with experts
Our Clinical Advisory Group provides clinical expertise, direction, subject knowledge and insight to all of our work. We work in close partnership with healthcare professionals across a host of projects and activities every year. To ensure that our work is clinically robust and evidence-based, our Clinical Advisory Group are consulted on a regular basis.
As well as senior liver clinicians and surgeons, the group includes nurses, social workers, dietitians, transplant co-ordinators, GPs and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Clinicians are drawn from across the 4 UK nations, ensuring we can call on country-specific expertise to tailor our work accordingly when working in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The key activities of the Clinical Advisory Group are to:
- advise and support Liver UK in agreeing policy priorities and policy positions relating to clinical matters
- support Liver UK when responding to Government, NICE and other consultations
- assist our team in producing health information and operating the helpline by providing high quality, up-to-date and accurate clinical advice
- support our communications output by providing clinical advice, reinforcement and, where appropriate, liaison with the media
- advise and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees on all clinical matters relating to our aims of research, education and support.
- ensure that Liver UK work aligns with the liver clinical community and links in appropriately with all relevant clinical bodies
The Liver UK Clinical Advisory Group is chaired by Professor Stephen Ryder who also sits on and advises the Board of Trustees.
